Jason looked up at the moon. It was almost directly overhead. He tossed the incendiary device toward the front gate. It curved gracefully through the air, suddenly visible when it left his hidden hand, to land in the courtyard amid a shower of sparks. There was a loud explosion and balls of flaming light were thrown high into the air, followed by clouds of colored smoke. The pyrotechnics were followed by the noise of clashing weapons as Herus and Thorsan launched their attach through the front gate.

Khuramani ignored the attack. It was expected. The Black Horsemen would hold the Keep. The sacrifice mustn't be delayed. The beams met over Charni's body. His victory was almost complete.
